Los Angeles Dodgers advance to World Series after defeating NY Mets in NLCS

The Los Angeles Dodgers are advancing to the World Series after defeating the New York Mets with a 10-5 win in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series, clinching in six games.  The Dodgers will face the New York Yankees in the World Series.

The Dodgers fell behind 1-0 after the first inning before scoring the game’s next six runs, with two-run home runs in the bottom of the third from Tommy Edman and Will Smith. Shohei Ohtani later hit an RBI single in the sixth, with three more runs scored from LA in the eighth inning. This will be the first World Series appearance for Ohtani, 30, who made history this season as the first person ever to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases.

The Dodgers will now appear in its fourth World Series since 2017; they lost in back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018, and won in 2020 during the pandemic-shortened season. The Yankees and Dodgers have played against each other in the World Series 11 times previously, but this will mark their first matchup in 43 years (the Yankees have won eight of those 11 previous championships.)

The 2024 World Series between the Yankees and Dodgers begins on Friday, Oct. 25th at 7 p.m. ET at Dodger Stadium.
